DJ Khalil had this track basically finished when I played on it but there was no vocalist on it yet. The original idea was written and recorded by trumpet player and writer/producer Dontae Winslow with his wife Mashica on vocals. Khalil had the bass part already worked out on keyboard bass so I was replacing that. I had some leeway to add fills here and there and I tried a bunch of different things until we found what sounded the best.
