Spide-Man: Enter the Spiderverse (2018)

DJ Khalil was working on a song for the animated movie, "Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse." He asked me to come up with a rock riff for the song. I grew up reading The Amazing Spiderman, The Spectacular Spiderman and Web of Spiderman comic books and also watching the 60s animated tv show so I was way into Spiderman. Also, the kind of rock riff he was asking for felt familiar to me because I am huge Led Zeppelin and Living Colour fan. I decided to write as many as I could and I came up with 20 different options. I tried to make them sound like Spiderman swinging through the city. I also came up with a b section that I thought sounded like Spiderman facing some kind of dangerous situation. The song ended being used as the end credits of the movie and I went to see it. It was pretty amazing to hear it in the theater with the big speakers. Strange coincidence - the artist Duckworth, who also had a song in the movie, was sitting right behind me and we figured out the connection as the credits were rolling.
